March 2023

Dear Friend,

Welcome to our Bridging  the Gap Mentoring  Newsletter.
Explaining how we help people through effective mentoring.

Good News

New mentors

– 5 people are joining our training to become mentors.  They should be available to help people during April.  They include  people speaking Spanish, Polish and German.

How our mentors made a difference – 2022 statistics

We are currently completing our evaluation of the support our mentors gave to mentees in 2022.   This will be available soon as a report.

What we can share now is that our mentors made a difference !
During the time they were being mentored, people’s lives were improved.  Two-thirds of the people we helped improved their health.  Nearly half  improved their financial situation.

The chart  below shows the percentage of mentees who benefited in each area of life.  The percentages add up to more than 100 because many people gained from mentoring in several different ways.

Mentees tell us they value having someone to support and encourage them, that mentoring has helped them gain in confidence :

‘ I have regained belief in myself and my belief in seeking help. It has also giving me the positive reinforcements to aim and reach my goals.’

“ It has been a huge help to me, having someone there each week. Helping me to sort things. “

” It has given me confidence to apply for voluntary work.”

Thank you to our mentors who make this happen.

If you think you have someone who would benefit from mentoring contact our Outreach officer on [email protected] or ring 07842612979to discuss.
